Nails
The only way to commute tbh (Picture: Lucie Davis/Instagram)

We need to talk about these nails Sadiq. As in, when you’re planning to roll them out.

A fashion student has created these awesome Oyster card acrylic nails that actually let you swipe in and out of the barriers, thanks to an inbuilt micro-chip.

You will literally have the city at your fingertips.

Lucie Davis created the nails as part of her BA in jewellery design at UAL’s Central Saint Martins and they featured in her final show.

She also wears them herself to and from college. They’re just so handy.

And we are so jealous.

The nails came out of a project where students were encouraged to find wonder in even the most routine activities.

Lucie immediately thought of her daily commute.

‘I took the RFID chip from an Oyster card and embedded it within a full set of acrylic nails to give commuters the ability to pay for their journeys with a single tap/touch,’ she told WAH Nails. ‘You can still top them up with money too. Now you’ll never have to worry about misplacing your card again!’

As long as you don’t lose the one with the chip in somewhere on the Circle Line, of course.

Also, people will probably think you’re a magician.

TfL totally need to partner up with Lucie and offer these in lieu of a card.

‘I hope to see it make its way into the street, the public sphere, the universe!’ said Lucie. ‘I think the whole process of making it actually got me further questioning the world and allowed me to view it differently; imagining needs and products which may fashion the future.’

We’ve got our fingers crossed Mr Khan.
