Shoppers obsessively tracking their Amazon packages can now put the smartphones back in their pocket and ask Alexa, the tech giant’s voice-powered digital assistant, instead.

Alexa animates the popular Echo home speaker as well as a few other products. An Amazon spokeswoman said that shoppers now just need to “ask Alexa when your package will arrive,” “where’s my stuff,” or “track my package,” and Alexa will respond.

It will also say who placed the order and when.

Alexa has been a remarkably successful experiment for Amazon. It’s becoming a big hub for home automation, and the latest skill added by Amazon enhances its usefulness as a shopping concierge.

Research firm Consumer Intelligence Research Partners estimated that Amazon had sold 3 million Echo speakers, a healthy number for a device that costs $180.
