So Minnesota: Hastings building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright

There’s a story behind each historic building across Minnesota.

One building in Hastings is tied to a legendary architect.

The Fasbender Clinic along Highway 55 was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the late 1950s.

Financial planner Abra Hovgaard now owns the office building.

“A lot of people in our community know it’s a unique building,” Hovgarrd said. “I’ll hear them say something like ‘Yeah that’s the turtle building, that’s the upside-down bathtub building.’ If I tell them it was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, they’re like,’ Oh wow, really?'”

Fans of Frank Lloyd Wright come to see the building from around the country and around the world.

“We’ve had people come here from Japan, from South Africa, from Europe, from China,” Hovgaard said.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s hand-drawn designs for the building hang in the office, complete with Wright’s trademark signature.
