Fed Is Best For This Mom Who Says Any Guilt or Judgments Can F*ck Off
When Siobhan Rennie made the difficult decision to stop breastfeeding her baby girl, she knew that she was doing the right thing for her family.
Despite the number of reasons that led up to this painful choice when her baby was 4 months old and seeing how things improved, she still struggled, not only because of her own guilt, but because of the judgments from others. "I still feel guilty every day that I'm not breastfeeding Aoife anymore. Because mom guilt is a HUGE B*TCH," Siobhan wrote on Instagram.
For her family, life definitely got easier and everyone seemed happier after she began bottle-feeding her little girl, but that didn't prevent the guilt from creeping in. "But I still, eight months on, think I gave up too easily. I didn't, I know that, but I still can't help being really hard on myself. Add to that the stare I got from a woman today at the park when I pulled out Aoife's bottle. Jesus, it was SO judgey. The thing is, FED is best. Aoife was (and still is) more satisfied on the bottle."
Siobhan knows that it doesn't matter how she feeds her baby as long as her child is safe, nourished, and happy; and she hopes that other moms can begin to realize this as well. "Never doubt your choices, you have to do what's right for you and your whole family whether that be breastfeeding until they're toddlers or never being able to even start. And tell mom guilt to just f*ck off."
