An incoming update to Netflix will help stop you going over your data limit while watching shows and films on the go.

Speaking to Pocket Lint, a spokesperson for the company said the app update will come out later this year.

It's designed to put more control in the user's hands - they'll be able to press a button to limit data usage, and the app will then work out the best bit rate at which to stream the video.

This will result in a reduction in video quality, but if you're watching on your phone, this might not be such a problem if it means conserving data.

Another update, which Netflix has reportedly been working on for years, adds a 'second screen' feature to the service - when a user is watching a Netflix show on their TV, they'll be able to use their phone or tablet to get information about about the actor currently on the screen. It'll also include links to related content, either to the actor or the show they're in.

The company is also going to planning to release new programming in 4K high-definition and high dynamic range (HDR) video - which is expected to arrive with the launch of the second series of Daredevil.
