Getting your hands on a Tesla just got easier. This week, the pioneering electric-car company launched the Tesla Explores program, a fleet of six revamped Airstream trailers that will travel across North America during the fall, in part to offer an interactive experience to people in areas not currently served by one of their 260 stores. The news comes a month after the Palo Alto–based auto giant cut the ribbon on its 65,000-square-foot San Francisco flagship, foreshadowing a retail blitz aimed at opening about 200 new locations in the next two years.

Hitched to the backs of Model X SUVs, the fleet of mobile design studios will offer a novel approach to the way American consumers have traditionally scoped out a new set of wheels. In a statement, the carmaker explained that “the mobile Airstream fleet will be staffed with Tesla product specialists, combining Tesla’s friendly, informative approach and best-in-class customer service with the opportunity for customers to see the Model X first-hand and design a Tesla of their own.” The initiative kicked off on Wednesday in New York City, at the 1 Hotel Central Park, and stops are currently planned for Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, and Princeton, New Jersey. Interested buyers in other parts of the country can request specific stops via Tesla’s website. For more information visit tesla.com/teslaexplores.
