Society, Robots and Us

Our next 'conversation that matters' is on facial recognition technology. Join us at 6pm PDT on August 11 for a discussion on aged care robots. "Society, Robots and Us" is a biweekly speaker event to discuss the social implications of robotics technologies, moderated by Andra Keay of Silicon Valley Robotics. Following our "COVID-19, Robots and Us" series, we're continuing the conversation about important robotics topics and socio-technical issues. We'll be inviting domain experts and interesting thinkers to discuss topics relating to robotics innovation, commercialization and inclusivity.

Welcome to the Boston Chapter of Women in Robotics!

Thanks to Dharini Dutia and Sanjuksha Nirgude, the Boston chapter of Women in Robotics has just launched, with some great events. The first event was an online networking event on July 3, and next on Wednesday July 15th at 7pm EDT is online "A Coffee Chat with Women in Robotics"  and on Sep 2 at 6pm EDT "A Celebration of Robotics with Daniela Rus and Clara Vu" .

"Our aim is to inspire and enable more women to enter and grow in the field of robotics. We focus on topics ranging from skills required for different robotics jobs to ensuring equal opportunity for women in robotics. We hope to bring in successful and leading women in the field of robotics to guide and inspire young members of our community." [Dharini Dutia and Sanjuksha Nirgude]

What are our other plans for 2020?

In 2020, Women in Robotics will start sharing our Code of Conduct with robotics conferences and other events. We want to be a source of best practice regarding women in the robotics workplace, academic or otherwise.

We're also going to launch tools to help you create and run meetups wherever you are located. We'll be using a new platform called meetingplace.io . And we'd like more newsletter and online discussion. And there's our annual list which is now up to "30 women in robotics you need to know about". We need your help! If you can commit a couple of hours a week, please let us know!

Or if you have suggestions for other activities, please let us know! info@womeninrobotics.org
